Historic House and Gardens to showcase 500 years of Christmas
Nantclwyd y Dre’s annual ‘Christmas Through the Ages’ extravaganza is set to return for the festive period, offering a chance to explore five centuries of Christmas and festive celebrations at the historic timber-framed townhouse in Ruthin.
Over the weekends of December 7th-8th and 14th-15th, the historic house will be decorated with festive adornments and objects from key periods throughout the attraction’s extensive history, offering a festive journey through the Medieval, Jacobean, Stuart, Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian eras, right up to the more recent 1940s.
Kate Thomson, Site Manager of Nantclwyd y Dre said:
“As well as being a fascinating and beautiful building, Nantclwyd y Dre has always been a family home, making it a place where people have gathered and celebrated at Christmas time for hundreds of years.
We’re thrilled to be offering ‘Christmas Through the Ages’ this year to give visitors a unique way of experiencing the house, whilst keeping its tradition as a place of togetherness alive.”
Councillor Emrys Wynne, Lead member for the Welsh Language, Culture and Heritage said:
“From rustic medieval celebrations to the year Christmas was banned, visitors will be able to experience over 500 years of Christmas under one roof in an event that promises to be a heartwarming festive outing for family and friends.”
